Obituary for William Earle Sturgis
Mr. William Earle Sturgis, age 89, of Park Lane Nursing Home in Altus, died Wednesday at the Park Lane Nursing Home.

Graveside rites have been set for 10:00 A.M., Thursday at the Altus City Cemetery, officiated by the Reverend Dean Robinson.

Born April 22nd, 1890 in Oakdale, Missouri, he was married in February 1942 at Norman, OK to the former Allie Mae Sturgis. He worked until retirement for Video Theaters as a Theater Artist in the early days in St. Joseph, MO, Wichita, KS and Oklahoma City. Later he served this Company in Ponca City for 50 years, until retirement in 1972. When he was a young man he sang one season with the Billy Sunday Choir in Cartersville, MO. He and Allie Mae Duke lived in Ponca City until they moved to Altus in 1972. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Altus.

He was preceded in death by his wife in May 1979.

Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Shaffer of Webb City, MO; one step-daughter, Mrs. Maurice Willis of Altus; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
