William Edison "Smitty" Smith age 71, of Altus, Oklahoma was born February 11, 1926, in Wallace, Michigan. He was a longtime resident of Altus. Mr. Smith passed away August 23, 1997, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, August 26, 1997, in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. "Smitty" served in the United States Air Force, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Survivors include his brothers; Harold A. Smith of Iron Mountain, Michigan; Howard E, Smith of Wallace Michigan; Robert C. Smith of Urbana, Illinois; Lawrence "Jim" Smith of Corsicana, Texas; Albert A. smith of Fairfield, California; sisters, Genevieve Staalsen of Marinette, Wisconsin; Myrtle Meyer of Martinez, Georgia; Florence Kinsey of Vestaburg, Michigan; Hilda Madahgian of Racine, Wisconsin; a special friend; Louise Keck of Altus, Oklahoma.
Preceded in death by parents, 1 sister; Marian Smith.
