William Edward Fuqua age 82 of Vernon, Texas passed away Friday, February 21, 1997 at Vernon, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, February 24 1997 at 10:00am in the Altus City Cemetery with Sonny Tims officiating. burial will follow under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Ed was born December 17, 1914 of Altus, Oklahoma to the late Grover and Pearl Fuqua. Ed served in the United States Army Air Corp for 4 years with the rank of Sergeant. After serving in the Army/Air Corp he worked and retired from Altus Fire Department as the Assistant Fire Chief. In 1994 Ed moved to Vernon, Texas to be near his family. Ed was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Elks Club and was a avid golf player. Family will be receiving friends Sunday, February 23, 1997 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
Survivors include his children Claudyn Frazier Bacon and Joe of Vernon, Texas, B.G. (Gene) Frazier of Carrollton, Texas, sister Elizabeth Lavender of Duncan, Oklahoma, three grandchildren; Stephen Frazier of Lindsey, Oklahoma, Patti Owen of Dumas, Texas, Robin Briscoe of Altus, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; Kevin Briscoe, Jeremy Briscoe, Stephen-Scott Frazier, John-Michael Frazier and Whitney Lynn Owen, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eva, August 23, 1996, one sister Christine Meyer, one brother, Ted Fuqua.
