Obituary for William Eugene Oden
William Eugene Oden, 77, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2000 in Altus, Oklahoma. Services have been scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, November 30, 2000 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Burr officiating.
William was born February 26, 1923 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He married Xen Harris and she preceded him in death. In later years, he married Ann Braddock.
Mr Oden graduated from Classen High school in Oklahoma City in 1941. He attended Bethany Penial College. University of Oklahoma, where he received a M.A. in 1949. He completed his studies at Indiana University with a Ph.D. in 1957. He had a very active in his community where he was a member of the Mayor's Committee on United Nations, board of Directors of Guadalupe Neighborhood Center where he also served as President, member of Commission on Education at St. Johns's United Medthosist Church and a member of steering committee, Kent Congressional campaign, Panel member for "Social Economics, Western Social Science Association in Denver, Secretary/Treasurer of Impower, Ind., Board of Trusee of University of the South and President of Jox, Importers/ Exporters.
William is survived by his wife Ann of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; three children, David Harris Oden, Barbara Xen Oden, Sarah Elizabeth Oden; three step-children, David Braddock and his wife Susie, Dana Braddock and Gayle Abernathy; and many additional relatives and friends.
Other services will be held Friday at the St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the Lubbock Cemetery.
