Obituary for William Frederick Thomas
William Frederick Thomas, 57, of Lakewood, Washington and formerly of Sycamore, died Sunday, April 25, 1999 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born December 15, 1941, in Marion, Indiana, the son of William Frederick Thomas and Genevieve Carol (Burchfield) Thomas. He grew up in Sycamore, had a career in the Air Force primarily as a C-141 pilot and instructor, retiring in 1989 as a Lieutenant Colonel. After fifteen years in Altus, he and his wife, Sandra, moved to Lakewood, where he was presently employed by Boeing in the C-17 training program.
He was a graduate of Sycamore High School, Class of 1959, graduate of Northern Illinois University and Southern Cal. active Methodist Church member, member of the Rotary Club, a community servant, wonderful family man, and enjoyed all kinds of sports, gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Sandra, of Lakewood, Washington; two sons, William Brian Thomas and Jeff Thomas both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a daughter, Jodiann Thomas of Louisburg, Kansas; and a sister, Jane (Nick) Mantarakis of Athens, Greece.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday in Sycamore United Methodist Church with Reverend Arlene Christopherson, officiating. Interment will be on Monday at the Church from 1pm to 2 pm prior to the funeral service.
A memorial fund is established for the Sycamore United Methodist Church Building fund or the American Heart Association in care of Quiram-Sycamore funeral Home 1245 Somonauk St. Sycamore IL. 601878.
