Obituary for William M. McElwee
Funeral services have been set for 2:00 P.M., Friday, First United Methodist Church, Blair, for Mr. William M. McElwee, age 81, of Blair with the Reverend John Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Mr. McElwee died Monday at 3:35 P.M. at Jackson County Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Born April 22, 1888 in Pottsville, Arkansas, he came to Jackson County in 1908, moved to Texas in 1920 and to Blair in 1942. He was married to the former Jewell Hunter in 1924 at Paris, Texas. He was a Veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Post #275 in Blair.
Survivors include: his wife, Jewell, of the home; one son, Malcolm of Gulfport, MS; eight daughters, Mrs. Mary Beth Ware of Brownfield, TX, Mrs. Martha Adkins of Corpus Christi, TX, Mrs. Betty Jean McCauley of Duke, OK, Mrs. Wanda Self of Fresno, CA, Mrs. Nell Kaufman of Elk City, OK, Mrs. Maxine Stover of Ft. Sill, OK, Mrs. Sue Howard of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Jeanne Fowler of Cleveland, OH; 37 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
