W. T. Boone, age 84, of Hollis, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Harmon County Memorial Hospital, in Hollis.
William Theadior Boone, Sr. was born on the family farm, near Hollis, on July 10, 1929, to O.A. (Buffalo) and Charcey Fay (Hollis) Boone. W. T. spent most of his life in Harmon County, working on the farm, except for a few years where he lived in Norman working for the State of Oklahoma. He married Bobbye T. Nowell on April 25, 1946 in Wellington, Texas and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2006 after almost sixty years of marriage. After moving back from Norman, he went to work for the City of Hollis as Water Superintendent, and was the first in Oklahoma to receive his Water and Sanitation License. After retiring from the City of Hollis, he went to work in 1995, for Stewart Funeral Service, where he worked as first assistant until 2010. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for four years. W. T. married Odessa (Whitten) Channell on December 20, 2008, at the Church of Christ, in Hollis. They spent the next five wonderful years traveling together and taking care of each other.
Preceded in death by his wife, Bobbye T. Boone in 2006; his parents; three granddaughters, Michelle Kitchen and twins, Rebecca and Jennifer Boone; two brothers, Curtis Boone and Doug Boone, he is survived by his wife, Odessa, of the home; two daughters, Sherrie Buckler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Lea Ann Livingston and husband David of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one son, W. T. (Ted) Boone and wife Lonni of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Melinda Mills of Hollis, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jodie Burton and husband Brad of Yukon, Oklahoma, Tad Boone of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Wade Higgins and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Staci Hunley of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Zachary Kitchen of Hollis, Oklahoma; three step-granddaughters, Danya Fancher and husband Caleb of Hollis, Oklahoma, Paige Martinez, and Tilda Daniel and husband Charlie of Oklahoma City, OK; twelve great grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Tyler Morgan, Braxton Higgins, Addison Higgins, Carsyn Higgins, Hunter Boone, Axton Boone, Hayden Boone, Jade Hunley, Kruizer Hunley, Blake Kitchen, and Colin Kitchen; one step-great grandson, Jack Daniel; two great-great grandchildren, Bentley Smith and Lily Boone; four sisters, Lillie Mae Moldenhauer of Amarillo, Jeanne Laurence of Amarillo, Elaine Boatright of Edmond, and Fayreen Lucas and husband Dee of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Don Boone and wife Cheryl of Follett, Texas and Nicky Boone and wife Donna of Hollis; two sisters-in-law, Mona Boone and Bobby Boone of Hollis, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for W. T. Boone will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Hollis Church of Christ with Burl Butler officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
