Willie Jo Watson, age 87, of Altus, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 26, 2014, at English Village Manor, in Altus.
Willie Jo was born in Waurika, Oklahoma on September 9, 1926 to H. P. and Lena (Rue) Frost. She was raised on the family farm in Hastings, Oklahoma, and on February 7, 1948 she married Joe Watson and they were married for over 48 years before Joe"s death in 1997. Joe and Willie Jo served as Independent Baptist Missionaries from 1959 to 1995 in several communities including; Cortez, Colorado, Wichita Falls, Floydada, Perryton, Orange, Amarillo, and Livingston, Texas, as well as Healdton, Roosevelt, Waurika, Oklahoma City, Kingfisher, and Altus, Oklahoma. Being prior residents of Altus, Joe and Willie Jo moved back permanently in 1989 to live near their children. Willie Jo enjoyed singing and reading her Bible. She will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband Joe; two brothers and three sisters; Willie Jo is survived by one son, Dale Watson and his wife Robin of Altus; one daughter, Kay Thomas and her husband Johnny of Altus; one sister, Joyce Bridges and her husband Eugene of Arkansas; four grandchildren, Tammy Prewitt of Texas; Mylinda Willcut and her husband Bernie of Texas; Charla Watson of California; Reese Watson and his wife Madison of Oklahoma City; six great grandchildren, Nickolas, Jenna, Taryn, Rylie, Chloe, and Emerson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 29, 2014 at the City Cemetery in Altus with Pastor Doug Altom officiating.
The family of Willie Jo Watson will greet friends from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, Friday, August 29, 2014 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
