Willie Sue Jones Zachary was born June 25, 1931, in Willow, Oklahoma. She was the 4th daughter born to Rufus and Ola Mae Jones. Her father was a farmer. She grew up on a farm in Beckham County. She attended school at Oscena 1st through 8th grade and then moved to Greer County where she went to Lake Creek School, 9th grade through 12th grade. Sue then went to work for Southwestern Bell Company in Lawton but moved back to Granite and worked at Southwestern Bell in Granite. She married Gene Zachary, on September 8, 1951, after the telephone company converted to dial, she and Gene had two sons, Nick and David Zachary. Sue continued working with the help of Mimi Jones and Grandma Zachary. The boys were active in sports and FFA. Gene and Sue spent many wonderful years attending their activities. She went to work at different jobs. She was a Janitor at Nance Hotel and later Morrow’s Dry Goods for Mary and Ollie. They were wonderful people who treated Sue like family. In June 1966 She went to work at Bank of Granite where she worked for 29 years. Sue was also the head Librarian for 13 years at the Ford Granite Library, where she loved meeting everyone and getting to know them. She and Gene worked for Sooner Girl Scout for 10 years. Later retired so they were able to spend more time with their five wonderful grandkids. They were blessed with four grandsons and one granddaughter, who all excelled in school. Later they were blessed with their great grandkids and spent many wonderful years attending all their activities. In 2018, Gene and Sue moved to Elk Wood Assisted Living, where they lived for two years before Gene passed away in 2020.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents; Husband Gene Zachary; Brother Jesse Jones; Sisters, Wilda Mae Music, Ruby Faye Furbee, Rose Mary Hunter; Mother and father-in-law. Leslie and Delia Zachary; Foster Son, Bert Dewayne Zachary; and Great Grandaughter, Elizabeth Eader.
Left to honor her loving memory are her sons, Nick Zachary and wife Carol, and David Zachary and wife, Teresa; Brothers, Tom Jones, and Jack Jones; Sisters Edna Ford, Darline Lemoine; Grandchildren, Rod Zachary, Scout Zachary and wife Robyn, Zac Zachary and wife Tara, Aaron Zachary and wife Karen, and Mikki Zachary and husband Casey Boland; Great grandchildren, Ty Cobb Zachary, Laken Zachary, Zarah Zachary, Hadley Zachary, Casey Zachary, Cale Zachary, Caylor Zachary, Cody Hines, Candace Hines, Eli Zachary, Noah Zachary, Jett Boland, Cabrey Boland, and Great great grandchild, Miller Hines, Fisher Hines, Malachi Eader, Gideon Eader, and Ezekiel Eader Cora Barger and Conlee Barger; and A very special Angel, Darlene Embry; As well as many extended family members and friends
