Obituary for Wilma Earlene Thompson
Wilma Thompson was born March 26, 1920 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late J. E. and Rosa (West) Alexander. She dies July 27, 2004 in Altus, Oklahoma. Wilma attended school at Porter High. She married Harmon Thompson, January 30, 1937 in Humphrey, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death April 17, 1992.
Wilma worked at the 1st National Bank for 38 years before retiring as Vice Pfresident in 1985. She was a charter member of the Southside Baptist Church. She had been selected as the Kiwanis Mother of the Year. At the Southside Baptist Church, Wilma taught Sunday School and served as Church Treasurer. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include: one son, Joe Thompson and wife Gerry of Altus, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, LaDaun Leverett and husband Steve of Arlington, Texas; two great-grandsons, Jordan Paul and Dylan Kyle Leverett of Arlington, Texas; one brother, J. E. Alexander, Jr. and wife Anna Mae of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister, Betty alexander of Clarksville, Tennessee; a special family friend, Orenta Thompson of Altus, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Alpha Rape.
Services for Wilma Thompson are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Wilma Thompson will greet friends, Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
