Obituary for Wortha Leon "W.L." Lanham
Wortha Leon "W.L." Lanham, age 88, passed away Monday, January 22nd, 1996, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Ken Pate officiating. Interment will be in the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Mr. Lanham was born July 7th, 1907, in Jolly, Texas, to T.B. and Mattie Lanham. He moved to the Jackson County area in 1912 from Texas. On August 17, 1927, W.L. and Jessie Kate (Shipman) got married at the Methodist Church in Martha. He farmed in the Martha area until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Martha Methodist Church before moving to Altus in 1978. He later became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Altus. He had belonged to the Roundup Club in Altus for many years.
Survivors include: his wife, Jessie Kate Lanham of the home; one son, Cloyd Dale Lanham if Wichita, KS; one brother, Stroud Lanham of Dothan, Alabama; three grandchildren, Craig Lanham, Karen Gawlik and Kay Grubbs; four great-grandchildren, Kyle David Lanham, Alesa Nikole Gawlik, Erik Scott Lanham and Zachary Tyler Gawlik.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Cliffie Marie Ray.
