Obituary for Gary Irions
Gary was born April 13, 1957, in Hayti, Missouri, and passed at his home on February 24, 2021, in Okemah, Oklahoma.
Gary was an avid sportsman as he really enjoyed playing football and baseball in high school, as he had won many awards including the following: Allstate Puerto Rico Highschool athletic alliance, Blue Chip list from the Tulsa World, Oklahoma City Journal all-state defensive player f the year, coaches all boomer conference, Named player of the decade by the Altus Times in 1970, played in Oklahoma versus Texas in the Oil Bowl, named to the 1974 -1975 prep all America football year, and drafted by the Milwaukee brewers in Baseball. Gary opted for football over baseball. He had a great 4-year career at Oklahoma State University, where he was a part of the Big 8 championship team in 1976, where he was also selected to the all-conference team. He continued his love of sports after college as he was invited to the New England Patriots try-out camp. He played in numerous softball teams in the Dallas area and also loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys play every week during the season.
Gary was preceded in death by our dad, Billy C. Irions, Sr.
Gary is survived by our mom, Kathy Irions of Altus, Oklahoma, our sister, Paula Baumann and husband Dave of Fort Worth, Texas, Brother, Billy Irions, Jr. and wife Mary of Altus, Oklahoma, a daughter, Katy Reardon, grandchildren, Lilly Rose White, Layne Reardon, all of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Also, Aunt Delores Andoe of Hartselle, Alabama, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.
A memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
Services are under the direction of Lowell – Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
