Jeffrey Todd Steely
Jeffrey Todd Steely, 61, of Carnegie, OK and formerly of Lumberton, Tx., passed away on October 13,2021.
Jeffrey was born on June 4, 1960, to his parents Charles Steely, Sr, and Nelda Francille Letsinger. He grew up in Lumberton, TX, and graduated from Texas City High School in Texas City. He also lived in Altus, OK and Carnegie, OK. On March 27, 1983, Jeffrey and Sherri were married in Lumberton. Their union spanned 38 years.
Jeffrey worked for CenterPoint Energy for over half his life, dedicating 35 years of loyal service to the company. He was member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, OK where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and involved in the Sportsmen for Christ ministry. Jeffrey led an extremely active social life and monetarily supported various organizations that were dear to his heart. His leadership and membership involvement included the Altus Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; YMCA Armed Services Council Board of Directors, SW Oklahoma Workforce Development Council Board of Directors, Military Affairs Committee member, Committee of 100 member, Rotary member, Breakfast Club, Leadership Altus V member, Vision 2020 member, Altus Chamber of Commerce member (Active), Mangum Chamber of Commerce member (inactive), and several other organizations and committees. Jeff volunteered his time to assist with the aftermath of three hurricanes. His proudest moment was working with his father and son to rebuild houses after hurricane Katrina.
When his social calendar allowed for free time, Jeffrey really liked spending time with family and family vacations, traveling, and being outdoors. He loved most outdoor activities that ranged from archery, hunting and fishing to golfing and riding trails. His adventurous spirit, kind heart and generosity all give testament to the type of person he was and he will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his mother, Nelda Letsinger.
He is survived by his father, Charles Steely Sr. and step- mother, Marlene Steely; one son, Jeffrey Steely; one daughter: Candice McPherson and her husband, Shawn; two brothers: Charles Steely Jr. and Kip Steely and his wife, Martha; two step-bothers: Chuck Kelly and wife, Laura; Les Letsinger and his wife Glenda; his grandchildren: Remington Steely, Emmalynn McPherson and Addison McPherson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
