Obituary for James "Jim" Edward Boler
Jim was born January 8th, 1959 in Sumter, South Carolina to James Edward Boler, Sr. and Brigitta Gunda (Lohwasser) Boler. He was the second born child to James and Gunda. At an early age the Boler family moved to Altus, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Altus, Oklahoma and graduated from Altus High School in 1977. During high school Jim played the trombone in "That Altus Band".
Jim had many jobs throughout his life, he had an incredible ability to learn new skills quickly and with precision. His favorite job was working as a mechanic for Wilmes Chevrolet.
Jim had a great love for people, he was always generous, and kind. He would give the shirt off his back and he was always willing to lend an ear to family, friends or strangers alike. He was incredibly empathic and truly felt others' pain.
Jim's passion in life was bowling. He loved everything about the sport. He enjoyed playing in local leagues, tournaments and even traveled to Reno, and Las Vegas to compete. A lifetime of dedication to the sport made Jim a very accomplished bowler. A few years ago he had to give up his beloved sport for health reasons, but he still went to the bowling alley to see his friends and listen to the sounds of the game he loved so much.
Jim was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Heinrich and Elsa Lohwasser; paternal grandparents, Charles Oliver and Ruby Boler.
Left to honor his memory are his parents, James Edward Boler Sr. and Brigitta Gunda (Lohwasser) Boler of Altus, Oklahoma; sister, Betty Louise Cricklin and husband David of Norman, Oklahoma; uncle, Heiner Lohwasser and wife Lisa, of Germany, aunt, Louise Gaither-Vise; uncle, Charles Boler, first cousins, Bettina Bier, Diane Stripling, Wendy Rust, Denise Ijaz; second cousin Sinah Bier, and his constant companion Pepper, his beloved dog.
