Obituary for Gerald J. Riley
Gerald J. Riley, also known as Jerry, long time resident of Lawton, Oklahoma, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home on November 11, 2022 at the age of 74.
Gerald was born February 12, 1948 to Mervin Thomas Riley and Charlsie Allen (Moran) Riley in Stockton, California. In Stockton, he grew up with his brother and sisters as well as graduated. Not long after high school, Gerald joined the Army of the United States where he had the rank of Private First Class, entering active duty on November 9, 1971. There he specialized in Field Artillery Basics and earned a National Defense Service Medal with an Honorable Discharge. Along with his service, Gerald attended and earned an Associates Degree from the MacAllister Heavy Equipment School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After his service, Gerald worked with Tension Envelope for 7 years before retiring with VA Pension.
Gerald married the love of his life Janet Lynn Riley during the summer, June 20, 2003 where they married in St. Clair County. During their 22 years of marriage, they lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Lowry City, Missouri, and finally Lawton, Oklahoma. During their union they raised five amazing children.
Gerald was a Protestant and a proud member of the Christian Union Church. He had a strong belief in God that he shared with everyone around him. As well as being a member of the church, he was a member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post of Missouri. In his free time Gerald loved to spend time with friends and family. He took great pride in his yard and loved helping his kids with school work.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Charlsie Riley. He is survived by: his wife Janet Lynn Riley; sons Jayden Lee VanSwearingen Riley, and Trenton Michael Riley; daughters Angela Riley, Miranda Riley, and Opal VanSwearingen; brother Dennis Riley; sisters Teresa Moll, Francis Moran, Charlsie Moran, and Athena Riley; his four grandchildren Isbella Lynn Riley, Emma Lee Riley, Brady Looper Riley, and Jerry Carter Riley; friends Aaran and wife Jan Cox, Sam and wife Allison Harmon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial may be made to the Autism Network, in honor of his youngest son.
