Obituary for Billy Joe Chuculate
Billy Joe Chuculate, age 54, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at his home in Mangum.
Billy was born March 26, 1956, in Glendale, California, to Jack and Elizabeth (Dick) Chuculate. He married Alice Chitwood October 29, 1991, in Lexington, Oklahoma. Billy and Alice moved from Lexington, Oklahoma, to Mangum in July of 2010. They were together for twenty-four years and were the loves of each other’s life. Billy’s family and pets were very important to him, especially his dog Sam. He was a very caring man who loved to help others. Billy was especially proud of his Native American heritage and loved sports, including football, basketball, and baseball, which he love to play. He was also an avid OU fan. Those who loved him dearly will miss him.
Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alex Chuculate, Billy is survived by his wife, Alice Chuculate, of the home in Mangum; one son, Gerald Lee Merritt of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; four step-children; three brothers, Jack Kelly of Jay, Oklahoma, Joe Johnston of Washington, and Bryan Johnston of California; four sisters, Phyllis Chuculate of Waggoner, Oklahoma, Judy Chuculate, Lori Chuculate, and Linda Johnston, all of California; one grandson, Kyle Merritt of Tahlequah; one granddaughter, Kalea Merritt, also of Tahlequah; twelve step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Justin Kelly of Owasso, Oklahoma, numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
The family will hold a Private Memorial Service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus
