Pedro Soliz, Jr. age 72, a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away at English Village Nursing Home in Altus, Oklahoma on May 5, 2023.
Pedro was born June 29th, 1950, in Edinburg, Texas, at a young age the Soliz family relocated to Gould, Oklahoma. Pedro attended high school in Gould, Oklahoma, and graduated from Gould High School in 1970. On August 15, 1970, in Gould Oklahoma Pedro married Simona Lopez. Pedro and Simona made their home in Gould, Oklahoma before moving to Altus, Oklahoma in 1977.
Pedro was a very hard-working and dedicated man always trying to provide a better life for his wife and children. He worked as a farmer, in maintenance and lawn care at the Altus Golf Course, as a driver and later superintendent of Southwest Transit, as a school bus driver for the Altus Public School System, and at Community Action in Altus, Oklahoma.
Pedro proudly served his country and state in the Oklahoma National Guard for over thirty years. He was deployed to Kuwait in 2008 where he drove ammunition and water helping to supply troops deployed in Iraq. When his children asked what he did in the service, he always responded, "Whatever they told me. " During his time in the service Staff Sergeant Soliz received numerous awards and commendations for his faithful service to our state and country.
Pedro enjoyed, playing cards, shooting pool, fishing, cooking out, but of all the things Pedro did it was always built around spending time with his family. Loving and providing for his family was always his priority. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion for his family, country, and state.
Pedro was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Soliz Sr; Mother, Gerarda Lueveno Soliz, and Brother, Eddie Soliz.
Left to honor his family are his wife of fifty-two years, Simona Lopez Soliz; Son, Jim T. Soliz and wife, Erlinda; three daughters, Alisha Soliz Gloria and husband Thomas, Patricia Soliz, Jessica Hunter and husband T.J., a special nephew whom Pedro viewed as a son, David Flores, Jr.; sisters, Anna Soliz, Emma Bohrmann; thirteen grandchildren, Isaiah, Isaac, Elias, Trey, Jasmine, Brittany, Tiana, Jazmine, Jacklyn, Joseph, Jeremiah, Azaria, David, Bayleigh, four greatgrandchildren, Paisley, Kinsley, Everly, Melody, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and his fellow guardsman.
The Soliz family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023, at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., May 9, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel Altus, Oklahoma.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lowell – Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
