Obituary for Betty Lou Allen
Betty Lou Allen, longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma and former resident of Russell, Oklahoma left her Earthly home for the Pearly Gates on June 16th, 2023 at the age of eighty-three.

Betty Lou was the fourth child born August 30, 1939 into a family of 6 at a time when money was scarce and resources were few. Her family made up for this with love. Her parents taught her to love and respect everyone. God, family, and country were most important. She was raised in the Russell community where she attended Russell Baptist Church. At a young age, she was baptized at Wildcat Crossing in the Salt Fork River. She attended school at Centravue High School and graduated in 1958. In 1959, she attended a party with friends and met the man who became the love of her life. She and Jack were married on April 18th, 1959 in Hollis at the Nazarene Church. They had 49 years together before his death in 2007. Their deep connection and love carried them through the worst of times, the death of 2 of their sons in 1995.

Betty Lou spent her whole life embracing and serving others. She was employed at Harmon Memorial Hospital where she brought care and comfort to many until her retirement in 2021. Although she was employed at the hospital, she always said her true career was as a wife and a mother. Betty Lou was an avid reader, averaging five to seven books a week. She loved to cook for others and her "Betty Lou" hamburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches were world famous. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taught many of them to cook. Betty Lou dedicated her heart and soul to Jesus. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis. She shared the word of God with those in her life, wanting to let everyone know they were loved. She knew that one day, she would see them all again in Heaven.

She poured her light and love on everyone who came to know her. The way she loved her people was the definition of pure love. Even in death she continued to give and had made all the necessary arrangements to donate her body to medical science.

Betty Lou is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack W. Allen; parents Reggie Lee Johnson and Christina Mae (Bush) Johnson; sons James Douglass (George) Allen and John Lee Allen; brothers Fritz and Wayne Johnson; sister Snookie Hughey; and grandchild Joshua Allen Pendergraft.

Left to honor her memories include her son Joe Don Allen of Hollis; daughter Jacquelyn Pendergraft and husband Jimmy of Mangum; sisters Nancy Faulks and husband Sonny of Hollis, and Barbara Hubanks and husband Terry of Hollis; grandchildren Jeremy Pendergraft and wife Kaesi of Hollis, Jennifer Sunday and husband Travis of Blair, Jacob Allen of Oklahoma City, Jessica Luebking and husband Kirk of Altus, and Stephnee Pendergraft of Hollis; great-grandchildren Jaden Pendergraft and wife Megan of Gould, Kalie, Julie, and Jamie Pendergraft of Hollis, Dustin Best of Hollis, Jaci Bryant of Blaire, Jack Sunday of Blaire, and Kallen Luebking of Altus; great-great-grandaughter Ellie Pendergraft of Gould; as well as other nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Until we meet again...We love you more.
