Obituary for Wilma Brown

Wilma Brown, 98, resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on July 24, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Wilma was born on August 13, 1924, to Willoughby “Bud” Pugh and Emma (Hollingsworth) Pugh in Reed, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Coy Brown on July 20, 1941. Wilma graduated from Vinson High School in 1942. Following high school, the Brown family made their home on the farm where Wilma was a devoted farmer’s wife. Wilma worked on the farm picking cotton and any jobs that needed to be done. Wilma loved being outside so she could tend to her garden. She was very active and up until a few years ago she was still mowing her own grass and even tending to home repairs. She also loved to crochet, sew, volunteer at her church, and bake sweets any chance she could. A large part of her life was devoted to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior for her friends, family, and her church. She spent many hours in devotion and was always eager to help the church. She was a long-standing member of Trinity Baptist Church and recently became a new member of The Lighthouse Church in Mangum. Wilma leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family, community and to Jesus. She is the personification of Proverbs 31.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bud & Emma Pugh; her husband of fifty-seven years, Coy Brown; an infant son, Ronnie Wayne Brown; daughter, Beverly McDaniel of Arlington, TX; brother, WE Pugh of Amarillo, TX; and three sisters, Bonnie Bowman of Monahans, TX, Irene Parker of Hemet, CA, and Mary Lee Cullins of Mangum, OK.

Left to honor her memory are her grandchildren, Travis McDaniel, Nathan McDaniel, and Courtney Wilkinson; eight great-grandchildren, Brice McDaniel, Kennedy McDaniel, Tristan McDaniel, Dakota McDaniel, Nathan McDaniel Jr., Chloe McDaniel, Coy Wilkinson, and Carter Wilkinson; Three great-great-grandchildren, Layton, Kane, & Dash; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and her church family.
