Scott Hendricks, age 89, of Mangum, passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2010, at Mangum Community Hospital.
Mr. Hendricks was born on November 28, 1920, in Mangum to Shon and Essie (Washington) Hendricks. A life long resident of Greer County, Scott attended Mangum School and on April 8, 1942, he married Virgie Cecil Paskell. Through the years, Scott owned and operated several caf"s in Mangum and Altus, did carpentry work, chopped and pulled cotton and raised cattle to make a living. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, but spending time tending to his cattle was one of his favorite things to do.
Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Hendricks, he is survived by his wife, Virgie, of the home; five children, Miles Coulbert of Pampa, Texas, William P. Ayers of Hobart, Harold (John) Harris of Hobart, Betty Nutt of Ashdown, Arkansas and Samuel Norwood of Claremore, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary Belle Davis of Mangum and Ozella McKenzie of Mangum along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Scott Hendricks will be at 2 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Callins officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
