Wilma Lou Maddox age 82, of Lafayette, Louisiana, formerly of the Reed, Oklahoma community passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Wilma was born Parmer County, Texas to E. C. and Pearl (Conyers) Jennings on July 17, 1932. The family moved into Muleshoe, Texas when Wilma was five years old and she attended all twelve years of school and graduated from Muleshoe Schools. On Oct 8, 1950, she married J L Maddox and they spent the next sixty-two wonderful years together before his death on November 8, 2012. They moved to Reed, Oklahoma, in 1952 and moved to the Maddox farms where they lived until their health failed in 2009. Wilma was a faithful and dedicated wife, mother, and church member. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and playing the piano. She played for her church and many funerals over a period of forty years. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Euell Jennings, of Rochester New York, and Charles Jennings of Austin, Texas and two great grandsons, Tristan Goodwin of St. Martinville, Louisiana and Benjamin Arnot, of Lafayette, Louisiana. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Lefler and husband Terry of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Sandra Griego and husband Chris of Allen, Texas; one son, Joe Bob Maddox and wife Martha, of Lafayette, Louisiana; two granddaughters, Shannon Goodwin and husband Aaron of St. Martinville, Louisiana and Lainey Coon and husband Tim of Broussard, Louisiana; four grandsons, Tony Knott and wife Winter of Abbeyville, Louisiana, Michael Griego and wife Anneliese of McKinney, Texas, Justin Maddox of Enid, Oklahoma and Christopher Griego of The Colony, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Wilma Maddox will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
