BLALOCK
George Edward (Eddie) Blalock, III, age 77, of Corpus Christi and formerly of Mangum, passed away early Thursday morning, December 31, 2015, at Trinity Towers, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mr. Blalock was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on December 19, 1938, to George Edward Blalock II and Jo (Foulks) Blalock. Eddie, as he was known, was never married, but had a large, loving family and many friends throughout his life. Eddie lived in Mangum, Amarillo, Texas, Enid, Lubbock and Corpus Christi. A 1957 graduate of Mangum High School, Eddie was a self-employed handyman who mowed many yards, washed thousands of windows and fought many fires.
After graduating from Mangum High School, Eddie served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He lived a short distance from the Mangum Fire Department and some of his favorite times were spent playing games with the firemen and sweeping the truck bays. As a volunteer fireman, Eddie rode his bicycle to most of the fires in Mangum and helped with anything that needed to be done at a fire.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by many cousins.
Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6 at Greer Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Eddie Blalock, III, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Mangum Fire Department in memory of Eddie Blalock.
