Obituary for Edna Earle Burkhalter Riddle
Edna Earle Burkhalter Riddle was born November 5, 1919 in Greenwood Springs Mississippi to James Herman Burkhalter and Mary Winnie Seay Burkhalter. She graduated from high school in Columbus Mississippi in 1937 and attended Mississippi State College for Women there. She married Army Air Corps Lt. James Ellis Riddle July 1, 1945 in Columbus Mississippi. His duties took them to Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, Bunker Hill Air Force Force Base i Indiana, the Philippines, Morocco and Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Jimmy retired form the Air Force in 1965 and they remained in Altus. after his death, Mrs Riddle moved Columbus, NE and then to Osceola, NE until her death September 24, 2003.

A homemaker and a true southerner, Mrs. Riddle was know as an avid reader, a bridge player and an excellent cook who was always willing to prepare food to share. One of her special talents was preparing pecan pralines for the holidays. She loved current events and enjoyed discussing them with her friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, OK and several bridge clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, her parents and a sister. Survivors include her daughter and husband, Anne and Doug Kallesen of Columbus, NE and her son and his wife, Jim and Debbie riddle of Anadarko, Oklahoma. grandchildren include Kristen Kallesen of South Africa, Molly and Josh Hoegh of Salisbuty, MD, Brian Riddle of Anadarko, and Tricia and Brent Johnson of Sacramento, CA. She also has one great grandchild, Jibreel Kalifah of Sacramento.
Surviving brothers include Larry Burkhalter and wife, Sandy of Ft. Worth, TX, Carl Burkhalter and wife Joyce of Wilmington, NC and sister Treva Pratt and her husband Jim of Jackson, TN. She is also survived by several of her husband's siblings and their families in South Carloina.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4 at 2:00 pm in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Ok with family visitation beginning at 1:00. Inurnment of her ashes will be prior to the visitation in Restlawn Cemetery, also in Altus. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Edna's honor to the Altus Public Library, 421 N. Hudson, Altus, Ok. 73521
