Stanley Wayne Edmond, age 56, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 11, 2014, at his residence, in Altus.
Stanley was born in Mount Clement, Michigan on September 15, 1958 to Bobby Jack Edmond and Rosa Lee (Rogers) Edmond. With his father being in the U.S. Air Force, the family lived in several locations including; Klamath Falls, Oregon, the Philippines, Savanah, Georgia and finally to Altus Air Force Base where Stan attended Roosevelt Elementary, Central Junior High and graduated from Altus High School in 1976. After graduation, Stan proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years with assignments in Alaska and Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. Stan moved to Oklahoma City in 1979 and spent the next eighteen years in the auto sales business, before moving back to Altus, in 1997. Stan was a man that dearly loved his family and loved spending time with them. In his pastime, Stan enjoyed grilling out, playing pool, especially with his son-in-law, Jeremy, playing ping pong with his son, Patrick, reading cowboy books, watching cowboy movies, studying Indian culture and taking care of his mom. Stan was an Oklahoma University fan and enjoyed spending time at the Wildlife Refuge and the family"s annual go cart races that were conducted at Quartz Mountain.
Preceded in death by his step father, Allen Tabb and his step mother Diane Edmond, Stan is survived by his mother, Rosa Tabb of Altus; his father Bobby Edmond of Midwest City, Oklahoma; three children, Kristy Lyons and husband Jeremy of St. Paul, Minnesota, Tanya Odgaard and husband Peter of North Liberty, Iowa and Patrick Wade Edmond of Coraville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kiera Lyons, Easton Lyons and Kamryn Lyons; three brothers, Michael Edmond and wife Mary of Oklahoma City, Roger Edmond of Midwest City and Danny Myers and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City; his former wife and mother of his children, Rita Edmond of Coralville, Iowa; very special friends, Wade and Lynn Hickey and their families and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Stan Edmond will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Doug Altom officiating. According to Stan"s wishes, his cremains will be scattered, by his family, in the Cochise Stronghold of the Siera Vista Mountains at a later date.
