Jimmie Dale Briscoe, 80, went to be with Jesus, April 24, 2016 at Bridges Rehabilitation Center in Altus.
Born January 29, 1936 in Hess, OK to Artie Banks Briscoe and Loyce Jim Briscoe. He graduated from Southside High School in 1954 and from Northwestern Oklahoma State College in 1958. He taught 5th and 6th grade at Headrick Public School for two years. While at Headrick, he coached basketball and baseball, which he loved. Jim then went into farming and ranching with his dad where he did custom wheat cutting, swathing, baling hay and cotton module hauling.
Jim and Betty Whitehead were married June 5, 1955 in Friendship Methodist Church. They were blessed with a daughter, Jima Jo and a son, Jimmie Dale Jr. They have four granddaughters; Elizabeth Ann, Christina Jo, Shelby Ellis and Mackenzie Loyce, along with three great-grandchildren; Dallon Scott, Dawson Dale and Drew Alexis.
Jim grew up in Hess Baptist Church and accepted Jesus as his savior at 14 years old and served as a deacon there. He loved his Lord, family and friends.
He was a member of the Southside School Board several years, Humphrey Co-op Board and Jackson County Water Company Board.
Jim lettered in baseball and basketball in high school and college which he still enjoyed talking about, especially the two state baseball championships. He enjoyed the children and grandchildren's activities and the annual golf game with Tommy Beach.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack, and sister-in-law Shirley; his mother and father-in-law, Bonnie and Cleo Whitehead, and step father-in-law, James Cantrell; grandparents Sue and Olin Banks, Annie and Isaac Earn Briscoe; brother-in-law, Alan Goldie; his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Survived by wife, Betty of the home; children, Jima Briscoe Beach and husband Gary, Jimmie Briscoe and wife Leslie; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Beach Carter, Christina Jo Beach, Shelby Ellis Briscoe Hasty and husband Cody, Mackenzie Loyce Briscoe; great-grandchildren, Dallon Scott Hasty, Dawson Dale Hasty and Drew Alexis Carter; all of Altus. Sister-in-law, Barbara Goldie of Redlands, CA; nieces and nephews, LuAnn Briscoe Wilson and husband Joe, Donna Briscoe Dickey and husband Ken, Rudy Briscoe and wife Elena, Billy Briscoe and wife Angela, Alana Goldie Marietta and husband Bo, Cathi Goldie Emoff and husband Ron, Lance Goldie and wife Jacki; and other family and friends.
Funeral services for Jim Briscoe will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Beach and Pastor Chris Milner officiating. Interment will follow at the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, from 6 until 7 p.m.
