Obituary for Roy Dale Mobley
Roy Dale Mobley, 90, of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the Lawton/Ft. Sill Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Roy was born June 23, 1920, in Apache, Oklahoma, to Charles Leslie and Carrie (Kelly) Mobley. He grew up in the Anadarko area and graduated from a local high school. He enlisted in the United States Army at Ft. Sill in 1942 and was in the 45th Division during World War II. He was later called up to serve in the Korean Conflict where he was an Army field medic. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1961.
Roy married Helen Louise Smith January 5, 1949, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He and his family moved to Altus in the early 1960's, where he owned and operated the former Standard Service Station in Altus. He then sold the station and began working for the City of Altus where he retired after twenty years.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen Mobley in 1992, one brother, Don Mobley, and two sisters, Mildred Campbell and Fran Simon, Roy is survived by one son, Warren Mobley and wife Barbara of DeSoto, Texas; one daughter, Sandra Oros and husband John of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania; one sister, Barbara Brauer of Ozark, Alabama; two brothers, Allie Mobley and wife Lily of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Charles Mobley and wife Mary of Wagoner, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Roy Mobley will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will have a visitation Friday, December 17, 2010,from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
