Obituary for Velma Abernathy
Velma Abernathy was born October 30, 1910 at Carlsbad, New Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Charles O. and Lilly (Rogers) Abernathy. She died November 23, 2003 in Altus.

Velma grew up in the Ozark Community where she graduated from Ozark High School. She was a member of the first Baptist Church of Altus where she taught a Sunday School Class. She worked at the County Court House for many years where she was a Secretary. She also worked for the Bill Luderson Agency. She was a original member of the ABWA.

Survivors include 1 brother Charles Abernathy and wife, Mary of Altus Oklahoma. A host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Raymond, Dan, and Roger Abernathy and 3 sisters, Mae Gates, Freda Holloway, and Mildred Rowlett.

Services for Velma Abernathy are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, November 26, 2003 st Lowell-Tims funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
