Obituary for Bonnie Jo Messick
Bonnie Jo Messick, age 90 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Rapid City Regional Hospice Center, Rapid City, South Dakota.
Bonnie Jo was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Mt. Park, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late John and Merwyn Treadwell Heien.
She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Family was everything to her; she was always concerned for others before herself.
Survivors include her son, Lonnie and wife Virginia Messick of Rapid City, South Dakota, grandchildren, Scott and wife Deirdre Messick of Canberra, Australia, Jessica Messick Fischer and husband Jeff of Burbank, California; and great grandchildren Matthew, Jake and Caroline Messick and Veronica Fischer, her brother, Bill and wife Jerolyn Heien, sister, Caroline “Dixie” and husband Morgan McCaleb and aunt, Dorris Lee and husband Jim Rea; nieces and nephews Jon and Caroline McCaleb and Cindy Heien.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Fred Messick.
Someone once stated, “When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it. You just slowly learn how to go on without them, but always keep them tucked safely in your heart.”
