Gladys Beatrice Henderson, 91, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the English Village Manor.
She was born September 30, 1918 in Lula, Oklahoma to Charlie and Pearl (Cogglin) Flowers. She married Roy Henderson in Antlers, Oklahoma September 8, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1991. Gladys made the Antlers area her home until moving to Altus to be close to her daughter.
Gladys was a faithful member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Antlers. She loved to quilt and has shared these treasures with many of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Pearl Flowers; her beloved husband, Roy Henderson; one brother, Ernest Flowers; three sisters, Retha Flowers, Lola Arnold and Opal Thomas; and by a son-in-law, Sidney Farquhar.
Gladys is lovingly survived by her daughter, Peggy Farquhar Gambill and husband Gordon; children, Bruce and ReGina Farquhar of Altus, Kelli and Chad Johnson of Humphries, Oklahomaa, Dustin Farquhar and fiancée Erica of Blair, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Jacob Farquhar of Altus, Nathan Helm of Ada, Oklahoma, and Arron Johnson of Humphries, Oklahoma; one sister, Dorothy Hurd of Colgate, Oklahoma; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Mills and Coffey Funeral Chapel in Antlers, Oklahoma with Rev. George Fergueson officiating. Burial will follow in the Antlers City Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 6:30 – 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the Mills and Coffey Funeral Home. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus is in charge of local arrangements.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Alzheimers Foundation.
