Obituary for Danny Smith
Danny Smith, age 59, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Danny was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 18, 1959 to his parents John E. Smith and Dorothy B. (Seaba) Smith. In 1969 the family settled in Altus where Danny was raised and graduated Class of 1977 from Altus High School. On Valentine's Day of 1982 Danny and his brother Tim opened Smith's Firestone in Altus and have been in business for the last 37 years. Danny, his brother Tim, and their father John spent many long hours of hard work building Smith's Firestone from the ground up. On September 19, 1984 Danny married Pam Kirkland in Chandler, Oklahoma and they have enjoyed over 34 years of marriage together. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was a strong supporter of both the FFA, Altus and Navajo Chapters and the Jackson County Junior Livestock Show. In his spare time Danny enjoyed woodworking and building things from furniture to his daughter's home and working his longhorn cattle. He was also the longtime Crew Chief of the Pepper Express Drag Racing Team and he loved his beloved dog Smoky. But what Danny treasured most in life was his family who he loved very much. Danny was the proudest "De" you could ever find and he loved spending as much time as he could with his granddaughters. Danny left a legacy of love, hard work, doing the job right, and he will be missed very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Smith and his parents-in-law, George and Wanda Kirkland. Danny is survived by his wife Pam Smith of the home; daughter, Emily Jones and her husband Chris of Altus and their children, Abigail and Jozie; son, Jeff Ford and his wife Stacy of Altus; brothers and sisters, Steve Smith and his wife Bilenda of Dallas; Dr. Collette Loftin and her husband Mike of Amarillo; Dr. Rebecca Smith and her husband Nathan Janes of Philadelphia; Tim Smith and his wife DeAnn of Altus; and Pamela Garrett and her husband Tommy of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Karon Callen of Altus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends, whom he loved dearly.

The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm on Wednesday evening, April 17, 2019 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Funeral services are at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel in Altus with Reverend Jim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Altus under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
